Astro Boy: authenticated Bearbrick, ToyQube and Kokies figures and Seiko watch

Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom), the little robot created by Osamu Tezuka in 1952, is today one of the licences most widely turned into collectibles, and this collection brings together its most sought-after editions: the Bearbrick Astro Boy figures by Medicom Toy (including the 70 cm Sleeping Ver. 1000 % and the First Book Release 100 % and 400 % set), the ToyQube Astro Boy Greeting 1000 % vinyl figure, the Kokies Glossy Figure and the Seiko 5 Sports x BAIT x Astro Boy SRPH45 automatic watch. MTHOR Shop, a French authenticated resale store, selects these limited-edition pieces in their original box, available in France and across Europe.

The history of Astro Boy: from the first Japanese animated series to designer toy collabs

Astro Boy was born in April 1952 in Shōnen magazine under the name Tetsuwan Atom, the "iron-armed robot" drawn by Osamu Tezuka, regarded as the father of modern manga. On 1 January 1963, the animated series broadcast on Fuji TV became the first weekly Japanese animated series on television, setting the codes of anime as we know it today. In France, the character has been known as Astro le petit robot since it aired on television in the 1980s, before the new adaptations of 2003 and the CGI film of 2009.

Since the 2000s, Astro Boy has been a flagship licence in designer toys: Medicom Toy keeps releasing Bearbrick Astro Boy figures in three sizes (100 % = 7 cm, 400 % = 28 cm, 1000 % = 70 cm), with Sleeping, First Book Release, chrome or manga camouflage versions that sell out fast; ToyQube, a New York studio, designed the Astro Boy Greeting in OG vinyl; Kokies reinterprets the robot as a Glossy Figure; and Seiko, together with the Californian shop BAIT, released the Seiko 5 Sports SRPH45, an automatic watch with a dial inspired by the character, in a numbered limited edition. These pieces are the entry point for many collectors of Bearbrick and collector watches.
