Clutter Chris B. Murray Goonbox Bait Figure Gray -1

Clutter: the art toy that turns culture into a collectible

Step into the world of Clutter, one of the most respected names in the global designer toy scene. Far more than a figure brand, Clutter is a creative hub bringing together artists, illustrators and collectors around one object: the limited-edition vinyl and resin sculpture. Every piece in this collection is a work in its own right, designed by an artist, produced in small runs and made for those who see the art toy as a genuine form of expression. At MTHOR, we hand-pick these figures and check them one by one to guarantee authentic pieces, faithful to their creators' vision.

The story of a designer-toy institution

Clutter was born in 2004 in the United Kingdom as the very first English-language print magazine entirely dedicated to designer toys and the culture around them. It quickly became a reference, documenting and championing an artistic movement that was still underground, sitting between street art, illustration and sculpture. In 2009 Clutter crossed the Atlantic and settled in New York, where the adventure took on a new scale.

That is where the Clutter Gallery opened, in the art town of Beacon, New York. The gallery holds exhibitions every second Saturday of the month and works with international artists on exclusive releases. Clutter also launched the Designer Toy Awards, the very first awards ceremony dedicated to the field. From magazine to gallery to its Clutter Studios production arm, the brand is today a pillar of an entire community of creators and collectors.

Vinyl, resin and limited editions: how is a Clutter art toy made?

An art toy is not a mass-produced industrial toy. Each model starts from an artist's drawing, which is then sculpted and moulded, most often in soft vinyl or in resin for the most detailed pieces. Production runs are very small, sometimes only a few dozen units, which explains the value and rarity of these objects on the collectors' market.

This process offers three major strengths: genuine rarity thanks to limited and numbered runs, high-quality finishing with hand-applied paint on many editions, and real collector value that grows over time, especially for signed pieces or those from landmark collaborations.

The iconic pieces of the Clutter collection

The collection showcases flagship releases from the Clutter ecosystem, starting with the Goonbox by Chris B. Murray, a Philadelphia artist known for his work around hip-hop culture. The Goonbox, with its boombox head, is a tribute to the golden age of rap and comes in several sought-after editions: the grey BAIT colorway limited to 75 pieces, the Gold Rap Kings edition, and exclusive versions such as the Toronto Red. The Clutter universe also includes collaborations with international gallery-exhibited artists, releases tied to the Designer Toy Awards and resin pieces produced by Clutter Studios — references prized by collectors worldwide.
