Flesh and Blood TCG: the card game that reinvented the duel
Step into the world of Flesh and Blood, the trading card game that gave the TCG genre its original intensity back. No frustrating randomness, no waiting turns: you embody a hero of the world of Rathe, and every card in your hand becomes a decision. Praised by competitive players and collectors alike, Flesh and Blood has established itself in just a few years as one of the biggest phenomena in trading card games worldwide. MTHOR hand-picks displays, booster boxes and box sets, brand new and factory sealed, checked by our team of experts before shipping. Whether you are after a long-gone First Edition, a display of the latest set or an investment piece to keep sealed, our Flesh and Blood TCG collection opens the gates of Rathe for you.
The story of a phenomenon: from Auckland to tables worldwide
Flesh and Blood was born in New Zealand, in the offices of Legend Story Studios, an independent studio founded in Auckland by James White. After nearly seven years of development carried out in complete secrecy, the game launched on October 11, 2019 with its first set, Welcome to Rathe. The bet was a bold one: in the age of all-digital gaming, Legend Story Studios designed a game built first and foremost for the table, local game stores and face-to-face battles. The promise immediately won over veterans of the genre looking for a demanding TCG that rewards mastery.
Success became meteoric in 2020-2021: the First Edition print runs of Welcome to Rathe, Arcane Rising and Monarch sold out instantly, and the sealed market caught fire. The symbol of this rise is the cold foil Eye of Ophidia — a Fabled rarity card from the earliest print runs — which now trades for tens of thousands of dollars and has become the "Black Lotus" of its generation. Backed by a structured competitive circuit, from weekly in-store Armory events to Callings, the Pro Tour and the World Championship, Flesh and Blood now brings together players and collectors on every continent.
This trajectory has created a true sealed-product culture around the game: First Edition booster boxes, printed once and then permanently retired, have become collectibles in their own right, kept in shrink like a fine vintage. A rare phenomenon in TCG history that only the very first Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon sets had experienced before.
A unique game system: how does the pitch work?
Flesh and Blood's great innovation is its pitch system. Every card has a pitch value from 1 to 3, identified by its red, yellow or blue stripe: any card in your hand can be "pitched" — committed to generate the resources that pay for your attacks and spells. The direct consequence: no card is ever dead in your hand, and the dreaded wasted turn for lack of resources — every TCG player's nightmare — simply does not exist. You play a hero with a life total, a weapon and equipment spread across four zones (head, chest, arms, legs), chaining attacks within a tense combat chain where every point of defense matters.
The result comes down to three strengths: remarkable strategic depth, where every card played is a trade-off between attack, defense and resources; a pace with no downtime, every turn being an active decision rather than a wait; and a rewarding learning curve, accessible from your very first game yet nearly infinite to master. The game comes in several official formats: Classic Constructed (60+ cards, the flagship format of major tournaments), Blitz (40 cards, fast games ideal for starting out), plus draft and sealed, perfect for cracking boosters with friends.
The iconic sets and products in the collection
MTHOR's Flesh and Blood collection showcases the most sought-after sealed products in the game. On the historic side, Welcome to Rathe, Arcane Rising and Crucible of War First Edition booster boxes are the absolute grails for collectors, while Monarch First Edition — the set that made the game's popularity explode in 2021 with its heroes Prism and Chane — remains one of the most iconic sealed products of the modern TCG era. The Tales of Aria First Edition Booster Box, available at MTHOR, perfectly embodies this golden generation: driven by the heroes Lexi, Oldhim and Briar and the elemental lands of Aria, it is now out of print at the publisher and actively hunted in First Edition.
More recent sets — Everfest, Uprising, Dynasty, Outsiders, Heavy Hitters, Part the Mistveil and Rosetta — round out the range for players and sealed collectors alike. Depending on arrivals, you will also find ready-to-play Blitz Decks and Armory Decks, perfect for discovering a hero, as well as collector box sets and displays. The collection evolves constantly with our selections: add it to your favorites so you never miss a restock.
