Nike Free Metcon: the hybrid training shoe, flexible at the front and stable at the heel
The Nike Free Metcon collection at MTHOR Shop brings together the most sought-after Nike Free Metcon 5, Free Metcon 6 and Free Metcon 7, in men's and women's versions, all authenticated before shipping. The Nike Free Metcon is Nike's training shoe that combines the flexible Nike Free sole, born for running, with the stable base of the Metcon range, designed for weightlifting and cross-training. It is made for those who chain, within the same session, a running warm-up, burpees, jumps, dumbbell or kettlebell work and HIIT circuits, without wanting to change shoes. At MTHOR Shop, a French authenticated resale store, you will find the women's and men's Nike Free Metcon 6 colourways that are hard to get in Europe, as well as the Nike Free Metcon 5 that Nike stores no longer offer, with worldwide delivery in 2 to 8 days to your door with signature, customs fees included.
The story of the Nike Free Metcon, from the 2004 Nike Free to the Free Metcon 7
The Nike Free Metcon is the heir of two Nike families born ten years apart. The first is the Nike Free, launched in 2004 with the Nike Free 5.0: after studying runners who trained barefoot, Nike's designers drew a sole cut by deep flex grooves, able to bend and twist in several directions to follow the natural movement of the foot. The second is the Nike Metcon, which appeared in 2015 to meet the demands of CrossFit and functional training: a firm, flat heel for lifting loads, lateral reinforcements for rope climbs, an X-shaped construction for stability and durability. The Metcon has been renewed every year since, from the Metcon 2 in 2016 to the Metcon 9 in 2023.
In March 2018, Nike announced the first Nike Free x Metcon, released on 1 April 2018: the goal was to give the cross-training community a shoe suited to mixed sessions, between short runs, group classes and free-weight work. The TPU-reinforced mesh upper, the Flywire cables built into the lacing and a sidewall rising over the heel and midfoot provide support, while the Nike Free sole brings flexibility to the front. The concept was then developed into the Free x Metcon 2, before the range took its current name with the Nike Free Metcon 3 in 2020, then the Free Metcon 4. The Nike Free Metcon 5 arrived in spring 2023, followed by the Free Metcon 6 in June 2024, which refines the compromise between a flexible forefoot and a wider, firmer heel. The Nike Free Metcon 7, launched in spring 2026, pushes the idea further with a dual-density midsole, a stable foam at the heel for weightlifting and a softer foam at the front for dynamic movements, a woven-strap lacing system that replaces the Flywire for midfoot support, and a full-length grooved rubber outsole. In less than ten years, the Free Metcon has gone from a hybrid experiment to one of the references in versatile training.
Nike Free Metcon technology: what sets it apart from a Metcon or a Pegasus
The Nike Free Metcon rests on a principle unique in the Nike range: a shoe split into two zones, a flexible front half inherited from the Nike Free and a stable rear half inherited from the Metcon. Three concrete benefits follow. Natural forefoot flexibility: the flex grooves of the Nike Free sole let the foot unfold with every stride, every lunge and every jump, which a classic, stiffer Metcon does not allow as well. A firm, flat heel for loads: the rear zone, wide and barely compressible, offers a stable base for squats, deadlifts and kettlebell swings, where a running shoe like the Pegasus collapses under the bar. Midfoot support designed for changes of direction: Flywire cables on the Free Metcon 5 and 6, woven straps built into the tongue on the Free Metcon 7, so the foot does not slide inside the shoe during lateral movements and shuffles.
The breathable mesh upper, the reinforcements at the toe and on the lateral side, useful for rope climbs, and the rubber outsole that grips in every direction complete the package. For a buyer, the question is therefore not "Free Metcon or Metcon" but "what kind of session": the Free Metcon is made for mixed workouts where running, jumps and weights follow one another, the pure Metcon for heavy weightlifting, the Pegasus for running.
The iconic models of the Nike Free Metcon collection

- Nike Free Metcon 5 Black White: the most requested colourway of the fifth generation, black and white, at home in the gym as in the city.
- Nike Free Metcon 5 White Bright Crimson: the white version lifted with bright red, among the first releases of 2023.
- Nike Free Metcon 5 Smoke Grey and White Bright Mandarin: the smoke grey and white-orange versions to vary from the classics.
- Nike Free Metcon 5 Barely Volt Pink Foam (W): the pale green and pink women's colourway, one of the most sought-after of the fifth generation.
- Nike Free Metcon 6 Black Anthracite and White Black: the two reference men's colourways of the sixth generation.
- Nike Free Metcon 6 Black White (W): the black and white women's Free Metcon 6, bestseller of the collection.

- Nike Free Metcon 7 White Metallic Silver (W): the first women's Free Metcon 7, with a dual-density midsole.
- Nike Free Metcon 7 Platinum Tint Light Magenta Crimson (W): the colourful version of the seventh generation, platinum, magenta and crimson.
Each product page states the generation, the official Nike colourway and the size, so you can easily compare a women's Free Metcon 6 with a women's Free Metcon 7 or find a men's Free Metcon 5 in your size.
Why buy your Nike Free Metcon at MTHOR
MTHOR Shop specialises in selling authenticated sneakers. Every pair in our Nike Free Metcon collection goes through a rigorous check carried out by our team of experts: we check the consistency of the box and labels, the materials, finishes, stitching and references, as well as the accessories and documentation. On a Free Metcon, this means checking that the reference and colourway on the box label match the tongue label, inspecting the cut of the flex grooves on the Nike Free sole, the regularity of the mesh and reinforcements, the tension of the Flywire or lacing straps and the quality of the stitching. For the most advanced checks, we rely on specialised tools such as a UV lamp or a microscope. Every order ships with a seal, a tangible guarantee that quality control has been carried out and authenticity confirmed. Learn more about our authentication process.
We offer worldwide delivery in 2 to 8 days to your door with signature, with real-time tracking by email and WhatsApp, payment in 4 interest-free instalments via Klarna or Scalapay, and a France-based customer service reachable Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. If anything goes wrong, our 14-day return policy protects you.
FAQ — Nike Free Metcon at MTHOR
Are the Nike Free Metcon sold on MTHOR authentic?
Yes. At MTHOR, every pair of Nike Free Metcon is checked by an expert before shipping: matching references between the box, the tongue label and the model, quality of the mesh and reinforcements, cut of the grooves on the Nike Free sole, finish of the stitching and outsole, then inspection under a UV lamp and microscope when necessary. The MTHOR seal placed on your order certifies that this check has been carried out.
Do Nike Free Metcon fit true to size?
The Nike Free Metcon 5, 6 and 7 generally fit like other Nike training shoes; people with wide feet sometimes prefer to go half a size up to enjoy the flexible forefoot without compression. The models marked (W) are the women's colourways, built on the Nike women's last: a man can wear them by adding about 1.5 sizes to his usual men's size.
What do you receive when ordering a pair of Nike Free Metcon at MTHOR?
You receive the pair in its original Nike box, with its box label and the tissue paper when supplied, all protected in an MTHOR shipping carton closed with our authentication seal. The exact condition of the pair and the box is described on the product page.
What is the delivery time for Nike Free Metcon?
We ship worldwide, with delivery to your door with signature within 2 to 8 days. You get real-time tracking by email and WhatsApp, whatever your destination.
Do I have to pay customs fees on receipt of my Nike Free Metcon?
