Porsche: LEGO, Hot Wheels and fashion collaborations around the 911

The Porsche collection at MTHOR Shop brings together collectibles and lifestyle pieces officially licensed by the Stuttgart brand: LEGO Technic, Icons and Speed Champions sets, Hot Wheels Red Line Club and Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham miniatures, Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche clothing and bags, and the Rimowa x Porsche Hand-Carry Case Pepita suitcase. The Porsche 911, unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show on 12 September 1963, sits at the heart of almost every piece in this collection, from the GT3 RS in bricks to the RWB miniature in 1:64 scale. Every item is authentic, checked by our experts and shipped with a seal, so you can buy a discontinued LEGO Porsche, an exclusive Hot Wheels or an Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche piece with confidence.

Porsche history: from the 1931 design office to collector culture

Porsche was born in Stuttgart in 1931 as a design office, Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH, founded by engineer Ferdinand Porsche with Adolf Rosenberger and Anton Piëch, and entered in the commercial register on 25 April 1931. The company did not yet build any car under its own name: it designed for others, and one of its first commissions, the people's car requested by the German state, was to become the Volkswagen Beetle. The turning point came on 12 September 1963 when Porsche unveiled at the IAA in Frankfurt a coupé with a flat-six engine called the 901, renamed the 911 before production in September 1964 after objections from Peugeot, which held the three-digit names with a central zero in France. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche's son, the first 911 weighed 1,080 kg, produced 128 hp and reached 200 km/h.

The following decades produced the silhouettes collectors look for today: the 911 Turbo (930) and its "whale tail" spoiler, the 959 of 1986, one of the first sports cars with all-wheel drive and a twin-turbo engine, the 993 Turbo that Aimé Leon Dore restored, then the GT3 RS and the GT3 R racing cars. In Japan, the tuner Akira Nakai opened his RAUH-Welt Begriff workshop in Chiba in 1997 and turned a wrecked 930 into the first RWB, launching a widened-bodywork aesthetic that has become cult, even at Hot Wheels.

This history has since fed a collector culture in its own right. LEGO launched the 2,704-piece Porsche 911 GT3 RS Technic in June 2016, retired in December 2018, followed by the 1,580-piece 911 RSR Technic in late 2019 and the 1,458-piece 911 Icons in March 2021. Mattel offers the 911 in its members-only Hot Wheels Red Line Club range and entrusted artist Daniel Arsham, between 2023 and 2024, with a four-part "Legends Archive" series. On the fashion side, the New York brand Aimé Leon Dore, founded in March 2014 by Teddy Santis in Queens, has been restoring classic 911s with Porsche since 2020 and releases a clothing capsule each time. Finally, Rimowa put on sale on 21 April 2022 an aluminium cabin suitcase inspired by the first 911, limited to 911 numbered pieces.

Flagship piece: the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS 42056

The flagship piece of the Porsche collection at MTHOR is the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS 42056 set. Released in June 2016 and retired in December 2018, this 2,704-piece set reproduces the orange GT3 RS at 1:8 scale with opening doors and bonnet, a flat-six engine with moving pistons, a working gearbox and a glovebox holding a unique serial number plate. Its collector-style box and the booklet tracing the history of the model made it, from release, a display piece rather than a toy.

Three benefits explain its value on the resell market. A retired set, so a finished one: LEGO has not produced the 42056 since late 2018, and a sealed box in good condition can now only be found second-hand or through resell, making it an investment piece as much as a model to build. Reference Technic engineering: a working gearbox, suspension and engine make it a benchmark set for adult builders, to be displayed once assembled. An official Porsche licence: the serial plate, badges and proportions were approved by the manufacturer, which matters to collectors who display the model next to a Hot Wheels or a 1:18 miniature. At MTHOR, every LEGO Porsche set is checked before shipping: factory seals on the box, numbered bags, instructions and serial plate for sets that have already been opened.

  • Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Eroded Porsche 930 and Rally Case, Porsche 356 Bonsai Speedster, Arsham Livery Porsche 930A and Eroded Porsche Safari, the four Porsches of the Legends Archive series.
  • Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche 993 Turbo Tote Bag, Nylon Track Jacket and Fleet Tee, the textile capsule tied to the 993 Turbo restored in Mulberry green.
  • Rimowa x Porsche Hand-Carry Case Pepita, an aluminium grooved cabin suitcase in Pepita houndstooth fabric, numbered to 911 pieces.

What these pieces have in common is that they were made in limited runs, reserved for members or retired from the catalogue, which makes them sought after by Porsche enthusiasts as well as LEGO and Hot Wheels collectors.

FAQ — Porsche at MTHOR

How can I check that a LEGO Porsche or a Hot Wheels Porsche is authentic?

At MTHOR, every LEGO Porsche set and every Hot Wheels Porsche is checked by our experts before shipping: for a LEGO, factory seals, box reference and production code, numbered bags and instructions; for a Hot Wheels, blister, card, metal base and markings of the miniature; for an Aimé Leon Dore or Rimowa piece, labels, stitching, engravings and serial number. The UV lamp and microscope are used for the finest checks, and the item leaves with an MTHOR seal.

What is the difference between a sealed LEGO Porsche set and a complete one?

A sealed LEGO Porsche set has never been opened: the factory seals on the box are intact, the most sought-after condition for retired references such as the 42056. A complete set has been opened but contains all the pieces, the instructions and the original elements. At MTHOR, the condition is stated on each listing and checked before dispatch.

What does a Hot Wheels RLC or Daniel Arsham delivered by MTHOR include?

A Hot Wheels Red Line Club or Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham delivered by MTHOR comes in its original Mattel Creations packaging: blister and card for the RLC, box or Rally Case for the Arsham editions that include one, with the miniature and its original elements. We add our authenticity seal and flag any missing element on the listing.

What is the delivery time for a Porsche piece?

We ship worldwide, with home delivery against signature within 2 to 8 days. You get real-time tracking by email and WhatsApp, wherever you are.

Do I have to pay customs fees on a LEGO or a Rimowa Porsche?

No, you do not pay any customs fees. MTHOR covers all customs duties and taxes, wherever you are in the world. The price shown on the site is the final price you pay: no unpleasant surprise on delivery.

Can I return a Porsche item bought from MTHOR?

Yes. You have 14 days after receipt to return your Porsche item, provided it is in its original condition (never worn or used, packaging intact, seal not removed). The refund is processed within 24 hours of receiving the return.
