Cutting-edge tech: what does BBCOR mean and how does the SPEC-A1 work?
The BBCOR certification (Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution) is the standard governing adult bats used in high school and college. To be certified, a bat must have a coefficient of restitution of 0.50 or lower, a -3 drop (the difference between length in inches and weight in ounces), a 2 5/8" barrel and a length no greater than 36". This standard brings alloy bats closer to wood, for a more balanced and safer game.
COMBAT MFG’s SPEC-A1 build is a one-piece alloy structure with three strengths: SFX barrel technology, which creates a longer barrel and a larger sweet spot than most one-piece alloys; a balanced swing weight for fast swing speeds without giving up barrel performance; and a stiffness / forgiveness balance that delivers the firm feel of a one-piece with forgiveness close to a two-piece. The bat comes pre-wrapped with the Clinch Spec Grip, tacky with just the right amount of cushion.
