Swatch x Bape: the cult streetwear collab goes camo
The Swatch x Bape Black Camo Gold is the result of the collaboration between Swiss watchmaker Swatch and Japanese streetwear label A Bathing Ape (BAPE). On this model, BAPE's multicolour camo pattern covers the dial and silicone strap, with a 3D metallic effect and a gold/brass tone that stands out against the black camo. An oversized 47 mm case, the crown positioned at 2 o'clock and an integrated strap define the Big Bold identity, built to be seen on the wrist. The story behind the Swatch x BAPE collaboration
The first Swatch x BAPE collaboration dates back to 2019, a meeting between two worlds that seemed to have nothing in common: mainstream Swiss watchmaking and Japanese streetwear born in Tokyo's Harajuku district. The success of that first drop led both brands to return in 2020 with a second collection built on the Big Bold case (47 mm), released in several Tokyo Multi Camo colourways — including Black Camo Gold.
The worldtime bezel carries the names of 13 cities where both Swatch and BAPE have a store, with Tokyo taking pride of place at 12 o'clock in tribute to BAPE's birthplace; the strap keeper repeats the same name. The multicolour printed silicone strap represents the diversity of urban cultures connected by this collab, while the Swatch and BAPE logos, subtly printed on the back of the strap, seal the union of the two houses.
