KAWS Holiday Shanghai Vinyl Figure Black

The KAWS Holiday Shanghai Vinyl Figure Black is a limited-edition collectible that captures the essence of KAWS's iconic "Companion" character in a serene, reclining pose, cradling a luminous moon. This exclusive piece was released to commemorate the "KAWS: HOLIDAY SHANGHAI" exhibition in Shanghai, China, in September 2024. Measuring 9.5 inches by 5 inches, the figure is crafted from premium black vinyl, exuding a sleek and modern aesthetic. The off-white moon features a crater pattern and is made from a fluorescent material that glows in the dark, adding a captivating visual element to the piece. The figure's minimalist design is highlighted by subtle yellow marks where the eyes would typically be, maintaining the signature style of KAWS's work. The moon and fluorescent details honor the Mid-Autumn Festival, a significant annual celebration in China that coincides with the full moon. This festival is a time for families to reunite and celebrate the harvest, and the KAWS Holiday Shanghai Vinyl Figure Black serves as a contemporary tribute to this tradition. The figure was released on August 28, 2024, and sold for $320. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and is packaged in a special box with fluorescent paint, echoing the glow-in-the-dark moon. This collectible is a must-have for art enthusiasts and collectors, offering a unique blend of contemporary art and cultural homage.
